Refrigerator Freezer Recycling

Your old refrigerator or freezer can be costing you more than you realize, due to massive efficiency upgrades in recent models. That’s why Loveland Water and Power offers FREE refrigerator and freezer recycling, helping you save money and energy:

  • We'll pay you a $35 rebate (double rebate of $70 in September and October 2024)
  • We'll pick up your old, working refrigerator or freezer for free

Once collected, the units will be taken to a recycling facility where they can safely be broken down and used for new materials.

How it works

  • Schedule your appliance pick up. You can schedule online by clicking the sign-up button at the bottom of this webpage. If you prefer, you may also sign up by phone (call 970-962-3000) or in person at our Service Center (200 North Wilson Avenue).
  • Roll your old appliance outside for pick-up on your pick-up day. Make sure it’s plugged into a power source so we can ensure it's in working condition.
  • Enjoy a $35 credit on your utility bill. Your credit will show up 6-8 weeks after your appliance pickup.

Eligibility

  • You must be a Loveland Water and Power residential electric utility customer.
  • You must own the appliance.
  • You can schedule a pickup of no more than two appliances.
  • The appliances must be between 10 to 30 cubic feet in size (to simplify: no industrial appliances. Most standard residential refrigerators and chest freezers qualify.).
  • Your appliance must be placed at the end of the driveway or on the sidewalk where City personnel can have easy access.
  • Your appliance must be assembled with doors and handles attached.
  • Your appliance must be in working condition at time of pick up, plugged in and cooling. You must ensure the power cord can be unplugged from the outside of your home for hauling away.
  • If our crews are unable to retrieve the unit after two pickup attempts, you may receive a reduced rebate.

If you have a non-working appliance, please contact the City of Loveland Public Works Department to arrange a pick-up at 970-962-2529.
